In-Person McGill Assessment with Nadeem

An in-person McGill Method assessment is a comprehensive 3-hour evaluation that includes the following components:
  1. Pain Trigger Identification: Discover and learn to avoid specific triggers.
  2. Mechanism of Pain: Gain insight into how your pain develops.
  3. Relief Movements and Respite Positions: Identify techniques to achieve relief.
  4. Strengthening Routine: Engage in guided exercises aimed at pain reduction over time.
  5. Pain Source Explanation: Understand the roles of discs, muscles, and nerves, with demonstrations using a spine model.
  6. Spine Function and Posture: Learn how the spine copes with stress under various conditions.
  7. Medical Escalation Recommendations: Guidance on when to consider medical intervention or surgery.
  8. Improvement Timeline: Establish expectations for pain relief.
  9. Comprehensive Report: After the assessment, you will receive a detailed report summarizing the findings and recommended actions, including specific exercises and positions to adopt or avoid.

Assessment Methodology

Required Equipment: Chair, bed, mat, and sufficient space for movement.

The three-hour session includes:

  1. Background Interview: A thorough review of medical and pain history, physical condition evaluation, posture and gait assessment, functional screening, and any available MRI analysis.
  2. Non-Provocation Testing: A series of tests conducted based on initial assessments.
  3. Provocation Testing: Tests linked to findings from non-provocation tests.
  4. Lifestyle Recommendations: Tailored suggestions for lifestyle and posture, as well as techniques for daily activities such as driving, dressing, and childcare. A summary of findings will be provided via email.
  5. Understanding Therapeutic Exercises: Guidance on when to progress or regress in your exercise regimen.
  6. Injury Assessment and Coaching: While some injuries may require in-person assessments, others might only need virtual follow-ups. It is important to note that healing chronic pain and rebuilding athleticism is not a linear process; outcomes cannot be guaranteed, but you will receive the highest level of commitment from Nadeem in your recovery journey.
